Fed: PM to offer an extra $5bn to NSW to secure health deal
Prime Minister KEVIN RUDD has offered New South Wales an extra five billion dollars
in funding .. in a final offer to premier KRISTINA KENEALLY to sign up to national health
reforms.
The Daily Telegraph reports NSW will receive the biggest part of an unprecedented national
funding package .. worth an extra 15.6 billion .. which Mr RUDD will take to the COAG
meeting in Canberra today.
It means NSW will be handed 4.9 billion more between 2014-15 and 2020 than it would
have expected under normal GST arrangements.
The concession was signed off by Mr Rudd late yesterday as a final .. non-negotiable
attempt to secure agreements from the states.
Mr RUDD told the Daily Telegraph he'll make the commitment as a measure of confidence
in their reforms .. and to demonstrate good faith.
